Notes on Richard Paul Vanek Family, 12/2003

My name is Aimeeann Vanek and I am the grandaughter of Richard Paul Vanek. I recently became interested in my family history and the origin of my family and in my research came across your site and I just thought that would give you a heads up on this part of the family and the goings on with us.

Uncle Mel (Melvin Leonard Vanek) died July 24, 2003 at Riverview Hospital in Crookston.Melvin was born on October 28, 1917 at Warren, Minnesota, the son of Edwin and Julia (Myerchin) Vanek. He grew up in Warren, attended rural Polk County and Warren schools. As a young man he worked the CC Camp in Washington State before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1941. Melvin served in the European-African-Middle East theaters before his honorable discharge in 1945. Mel remained single and took care of his parents farm until late in his years when he moved to Crookston and thats where he spent the last of his days.

Ronald Vanek died May 17, 1998, in Unity Medical Center, Grafton, N.D. Ron was born March 10, 1945, the son of Richard and Marjorie (Stroble) Vanek, in Warren, Minn. He married Ruth Tallum on Jan. 28, 1978, in Warren. They lived in Thief River Falls before moving to Minto in 1982. He worked for Motorcoach Industries in Pembina, N.D.He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Donna (Phil) Emert, Tampa, Fla.; a son, Brian.; and two brothers Robert and Rick, both of Oklahoma City,Ok.

So far thats all I have on this end but if you need to know more let me know and i will tell you what i can! I'll keep you posted on the rest of us...

Thanks for keeping our history alive,
a cousin of sorts,
Aimeeann Vanek
