Ed Sirek and Evelyn first met while both were attending University of Wisconsin, River Falls in 1939. One year after he graduated from University of Wisconsin, River Falls they were married, June 11, 1940 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw. Father Francis Sirek, then a seminarian at St Procopium in Lyle, Illinois, Ed's brother was the best man. Margaret Cook Nelson, cousin to Ev was the maid of honor.
They returned to Wisconsin in 1942 and lived in various cities around the state, from Winter, Baraboo, Appleton, Ladysmith and Rhinelander. Ed worked in the field of Agriculture/Agronomy as teacher and Agriculture Extension agent until retirement in 1982. Evelyn was a stay at home mom, but she did volunteer at the catholic grade school as part time librarian when their children were in school. Eight children were born to them. David was born with Muscular Dystrophy. He stayed with Ed and Ev until his death in 1974. Today the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren live from coast to coast and even outside the USA.
Ed's proudest achievement was his dedication and accomplishments in the Lions, International. He held many offices in the organization including State President twice. He was responsible for starting most of the Lions clubs in northern Wisconsin.
