Phyllis (Myerchin) Simon Phyllis was born on Election Day, November 6, 1934 at Warren, Minnesota. Phyllis did the usual things as she grew up on the farm with her six sisters and two brothers. When she was in her teens, the family moved to East Grand Forks, Minnesota, where she went to school and eventually entered the job market. On June 11, 1956, she married Raymond Simon in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. Phyllis and Ray lived in Grand Forks, where they began their family and Ray attended the University of North Dakota, graduating in the spring of 1960. In 1961, after college, they moved with their daughter and two sons to Crookston, Minnesota, where they owned and operated Simon's Office Supply and Ray sold insurance for the Knights of Columbus. In the fall of 1977. they moved their family, now six boys and one girl to Grand Forks, where Ray managed the local branch for the Gate City Federal of Fargo. After a short four months, Ray was promoted to a regional manager position with the bank and in the summer of 1978, the family then moved to Fargo, North Dakota. Phyllis worked her AVON business. since that time and as well, volunteered at a local nursing home every Thursday. To help with setting up chapel for weekly Divine Liturgy, she also assisted the residents in navigating their way to the Chapel. Today, Phyllis is still doing that along with her AVON and Ray is retired after working at Gate City Bank for twenty-two years. You probably have already calculated that Phyllis and Ray will be married 45 years, come June 11, 2001. As mentioned earlier, we were blessed with seven children, on Mar 29, 2001. our fourteenth grandchild was born, and with her, that makes ten girls and four boys. We have been blessed in so many ways and as we move ahead, we plan to continue to live in Fargo, live in our house that has been our' home for some twenty three years and enjoy our family and friends.
